A fire in your vehicle can be extremely dangerous to you and those around you, and it’s important that you know how to respond. If your car catches frie on the road, follow the tips below to keep yourself as safe as possible.

Turn Off the Vehicle – As soon as your vehicle is stopped, park your car to stop it from rolling and causing an accident. Turn off the ignition to stop the gasoline and electrical line from giving more gas or electricity to the fire.
Get Out – You and everyone inside the vehicle need to exit the vehicle immediately. Make sure you check for passing vehicles before opening your doors to avoid an accident.
Call 9-1-1 – Once you and everyone else have moved away from the vehicle, call the police. Report your location and inform them your vehicle is on fire so that the local firefighters can be notified.
Stay Back – Now that help is on the way, it is important to stay back. Sometimes a small fire can be fought with a fire extinguisher.
