1 Dead, 5 Injured After Police Chase Ends in Multi-Vehicle Crash

One person is dead and five others were injured after a police chase ended in a multi-vehicle crash in Harris County, TX. The crash occurred Friday, April 22.
Details About the Multi-Vehicle Crash
On April 22, a Harris County deputy received a family disturbance call and in the process attempted to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Greenhouse Road and Little York Road.
The suspects in question included a 16-year-old and two other unidentified individuals. According to the deputy, the 16-year-old driver failed to stop and a police pursuit ensued. The teenager sped ahead of the police pursuit and crashed into three other vehicles. A fourth vehicle crashed into one of the struck vehicles after the driver was unable to stop in time.
The Cy-Fair Fire Department and Life Flight were dispatched to the scene of the crash. The 16-year-old driver and his two passengers were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A female victim in the crash was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A 41-year-old former South African rugby player along with his 8-year-old son were flown by Life Flight to a nearby medical center for treatment. The 41-year-old died at the hospital from his injuries while his 8-year-old son is still in critical condition.
The 16-year-old driver who caused the crash is being charged with felony murder for the death of the 41-year-old man. He is also being charged with reckless aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the crash.
